RINA Membership Benefits for Australian Naval Architects and Maritime Engineers


·                  Members are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Division and its Sections in the various States/Territories, such as participating in Technical Meetings, industry fora and social events conducted regularly by the Sections.

·                  Membership, particularly at Corporate Member (MRINA or FRINA) level, provides an internationally recognised professional qualification demonstrating the highest standards of professional competence.

·                  Corporate Members may gain internationally recognised Engineering Council registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Engineering Technician (EngTech).  The Australian Division can assist in achieving and maintaining such registration which is equivalent to the corresponding registration (eg. CPEng) by Engineers Australia.  Registered members may enter the National Engineering Register without joining Engineers Australia.

·                  Membership at specified grades is covered by mutual recognition provisions of the RINA-Engineers Australia agreement.

·                  Member services provide opportunities for updating and exchange of technical knowledge through publications and events and so fulfil the need for maritime industry specific Initial and Continuing Professional Development (IPD and CPD) as required for registration as CEng, IEng or EngTech.  Attendance at RINA technical meetings counts as CPD. 

·                  Members receive emailed notification of the Division’s quarterly Journal The Australian Naval Architect and are entitled to hard copies upon request.  Many members see the news and information in this journal is one of the major benefits of being in RINA.

·                  Members receive free copies of the leading technical journals The Naval ArchitectOffshore Marine Technology, and Warship Technology.

·                  Copies of Ship & Boat International and ShipRepair & Conversion Technology at p&p cost.

·                  Regular eNewsletters The Naval Architect eNews, Warship Technology eNews, Offshore Maritne Technology eNews, ShipRepair eNews and Ship & Boat eNews giving updates on technical and industry developments.

·                  Free copies of technical papers published in Conference Proceedings and the Transactions (International Journal of Maritime Technology).

·                  A regular newsletter, RINA Affairs and e-newsletter RINA News, giving news of the Institution, other members and the profession.

·                  Discounts on all other RINA publications.  

·                  Reduced rates for most RINA international conferences, seminars and training courses.

·                  Opportunity to meet and exchange views with other maritime industry professionals, through membership of RINA technical committees, attendance at Section meetings and conferences and through the RINA website and social media platforms.
