Technical Presentation - 19 September 2019

DST Group have been developing a range of simulation and analysis capabilities to support naval platform acquisition and sustainment programs. These programs rely heavily on hydrodynamics modelling and simulation, which must be supported by an experimental validation capability.
A critical facility in developing these validation data sets is the Australian Maritime Colleges Cavitation Research Laboratory. The cavitation tunnel within the lab is a world class facility capable of a range of high fidelity measurements. Daniel discussed with the audience a number of the experimental programs that have been undertaken at this facility to support DST Groups ongoing hydrodynamics program.
Daniel Butler is a hydrodynamics researcher at DST Group specialising in the hydrodynamics of naval propellers and control surfaces. His primary work over the last 6 years has been undertaking and developing experiments on behalf of DST Group at the Australian Maritime Colleges Cavitation Research Laboratory.
