Conference Content
Innovations in hull design, sail design, and materials have raised the bar in sailing yacht speed and performance. The use of advanced wing sails and hydrofoils have pushed the down wind speeds of some vessels past two times the speed of the wind itself. In some cases the vessels performance is only limited by the endurance of those who crew her.
The RINA High Performance Sailing Yacht conference will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest scientific and technologic research and its application in the complex field of high performance yachts and competitive sailing. Papers are invited from naval architects, class societies, builders and researchers on all related topics, including:
• Innovative design for performance
• Aerodynamics
• Design of sails, masts, rigging
• Hydrodynamics
• Design of hulls, appendages
• Structure and materials
• Fluid structure interaction
• CFD Validation
• New experimental techniques
• Performance enhancement in general
Selected papers may be published in the Transactions of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
