2017 RINA-BMT Marine Student Naval Architect Award
There were a variety of design projects, including a coast guard icebreaker, two ferries for the coast of Labrador, an oceanographic research vessel, a passenger ferry for the city of Toronto, and a floating dry dock vessel.
The ONAE Program at MUN is very fortunate to receive support from RINA and BMT Fleet Technology Limited who offer the RINA-BMT Marine Student Naval Architect Award annually. The award is made to the ONAE students with the best senior design project. Judging this year was performed by Jason Mills of BMT, Trevor Butler of Lloyd’s Register, and Bruce Colbourne of Memorial University.
All of the projects and presentations were very well done and well received by the judges. The honor for best project went to the Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel by Lucas Pike, Victoria Ryan, Chelsea Doyle, and Laura Bruneau. Congratulations.
